EVIDENCE OF YOUR HISTORY IN THE SPORT MANAGEMENT FIELD
1. A comprehensive CV showing all positions held and work done in the management field. You should have a minimum of 3 years’ experience to be considered for RPL.
2. Copies of certificates from management related courses and qualifications you have completed
3. Letters of recommendation from clients and employers both past and present.
4. Affidavits from supervisors or managers that confirm your ability to work in a team or to lead a team in the field of sport management.
5. Job descriptions and letters of employment from the sport management industry detailing your role in these positions.
GOOD GOVERNANCE IN SPORT
1. A constitution that you have created for a sports club or other organisation.
2. An explanation of the importance of good governance and why it is necessary in the sport management environment.
3. Identify an example of poor governance within a sports organisation and comment on how this could have been avoided.
4. An example of an organisational structure for a sport body and explanation how it promotes good governance.
SPORT ORGANISATION, STRUCTURE AND DEVELOPMENT
1. Examples of organisational structures that you have set up within a sport environment.
2. Your view on the importance of diversity and equity in sport and examples of where you have designed and implemented such a policy.
3. A reflection on the dangers of racism in sport and any actions that you have considered to counter this in your sporting environment. Provide a disciplinary procedure to deal with such examples of racism.
4. Identify the social issues that prevent community youth from participating in sport. An explanation of how sport can be used as a vehicle to uplift troubled communities. Evidence and detail on sport development programmes that you have been involved in aimed at uplifting community.
5. An explanation on why disability needs to be considered for all sports. A classification of disabilities and how they are catered for in sport. Your views on how empathy and sensitivity should be used in dealing with disabled athletes.
6. Show an HIV Aids policy that you have created for a specific sporting team, club or organisation and explain how this complies with local and international requirements.
SPORT OPERATIONS AND ADMINISTRATION
1. Provide a mission statement/vision for a sporting organisation that you developed.
2. Show a risk analysis of a sporting organisation identifying challenges that need to be planned for, anticipated and countered
3. Provide research on what the current best practises in sport administration are and comment on how these can be adapted for your sporting environment.
4. Give a summary on the importance of communication within a sporting organisations. Identify your key stakeholders who require regular communication and explain which types of communication you would use to keep these stakeholders informed.
5. Provide examples of typical sport administration documents or records used within your organisation. Show the design of a record keeping system aimed at ensuring excellent administration controls. Explain the importance of customer care in successful sport administration and list your methods of customer care practised amongst your stakeholders to ensure their support.
6. Discuss the concept of wellness and its importance within an organisation and explain its benefits to employees. Provide a wellness programme designed specifically for your sporting organisation, including detail on which data should be collected and how this should be acted on.
EVENT PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION
1. Provide a list of sporting events that you have organised or been involved in the organisation of. List your role in each
2. Explain the process of conceptualising an event and provide insight into the process that you personally went through when designing a sporting event, including the need for the event.
3. Discuss the importance of community and describe how you have incorporated community into your events.
4. List all stakeholders that you have encountered in the event management process and explain the importance of engaging with each. Explain the importance of collaboration with the sports federation concerned.
5. Provide an income and expenditure budget specific to your event.
6. Provide examples of the scheduling process used to ensure successful implementation. This may be in the form of checklists and action schedules.
7. Show your event management structure and list the roles and responsibilities of each team member.
8. Explain the concept of building and event brand and show examples of the brands that you have created for your events. Provide marketing plan showing how you marketed your event to the various stakeholders (sponsors, community, participants, spectators.
9. Provide examples of sponsorship proposals that you have created for events and explain the process that you followed to raise funding for these events.
10. Explain how you measured the success of the sponsorship and provide an example of a sponsorship feedback document showing how this was measured.
11. Provide information on the event evaluation process. Describe the evaluation tools to be used and how you get stakeholder feedback on the event. Show an agenda for your post-event meeting and explain how you have gathered information with the aim of improving your next event.
12. Provide a detailed summary or policy on the safety and risk management process including legal requirements and any examples of safety and risk management issues that you have encountered.
