This learning programme provides an exciting balance of theoretical and practical learning which enables graduates to work as sport conditioners, in both the national and international sport and fitness industries. Graduates are able to provide sport-based conditioning programmes for clients or athletes who want to prepare for their sport and improve their performance.
You are able to screen, assess, and fitness test for sport performance as well as design and periodise safe, effective sport performance programmes. You will be able to implement and manage safe and effective sport conditioning and/or performance-based exercise programmes. Additionally, you can demonstrate knowledge of health and safety standards and professional scopes of practice.
Sport Screening and Testing:
Screening and assessment: How screening and assessment are based on the sporting population and values are related to performance goals within a specific sporting code.
Functional motion testing: Assessment tools used by sports conditioners to identify movement, specific limitations in flexibility or stability.
Sport fitness testing: A range of tests which are essential to ensure that the correct batteries of tests are adopted.
Sport and Exercise Science:
Sport and exercise physiology: The body adapts to athletic training and sport specific training. This knowledge is used to influence training and conditioning programmes.
Applied anatomy: Scientific principles of anatomy and biomechanics and how they are applied to exercise and sport conditioning.
