Are you looking to get into the Fitness Industry? Or are you simply interested in Sport and Fitness and are keen to expand your knowledge on the subject? If you work full time and are looking to study part time from the comfort of your own home, you’re in luck, as eta Online is offering a short course intake in October 2018. There’s a range to choose from and these will give you a foot into the fitness industry or expand on your current knowledge and fitness industry offerings.

The October intake course options are the Fitness Instructor Courses, Group Exercise Instructor Courses (GEI) in Aerobics, Step and Tone, Pilates, Yoga and Indoor Cycling. You will also have the option to choose two specialisation courses; Sport Massage or Kettlebell.

We would love to give you a better idea of some of the courses you can choose from and what they entail. You can also contact eta Online should you wish to find out more info on any of the October Course options.

Fitness Instructor; A great course to enter the Fitness industry with and it has a good balance between theory and practical.

The course has four modules; Anatomy and physiology: you learn how to apply basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology in the context of exercise and teaching exercise sessions.  This will enable you to lead safe and effective exercise sessions.

Exercise screening, in which you are taught how to conduct basic health and lifestyle screening assessments and fitness skills assessments to determine the physical readiness of participants.

Fitness facility orientationprepares you to supervise and oversee the use of a fitness facility and the equipment.

Finally, Leading exercise sessionsteaches you how to instruct a variety of pre-planned sessions and classes.

There are number of tasks to complete in each module; it requires approximately 8 to 10 hours of study per week. In addition, there are also approximately 60 practical hours that need to complete as well.

If you enjoy the fitness industry but have limited time and resources this is a great way to get started!

You could also sign up for any of the four GEI courses. Here is some more in-depth info about Pilates Mat. Pilates is a great, holistic form of exercise. It teaches you to become aware of your body, how it moves and how it balances. It teaches you to focus on breathing and control. It also offers a wide variety of exercises in the Pilates repertoire with their foundations in Pilates principles.

There are many career options for you to look forward to. You could expand on a current offering (as a personal trainer) to include Pilates exercises with your clients. Or you could work in a gym or at a Pilates specific studio; not to mention the option of opening your very own studio!

With just 6 to 8 hours of study and practical time per week, you will be well on your way to obtaining your certification. This really is a wonderful form of exercise that you get to share with others – how awesome is that.

If you are looking to try out one of the specialisations rather, you may like to sign up for the sport massage specialisation. Sport massages are a great way to prepare the body for exercise, as well as to treat the body after it has been through the extensive pressure and stress of athletic activity.

Generally, massages have three forms: pre-event, post-event and maintenance massage which all help to maintain the body in optimal condition and bring about speedy recovery after workouts or injuries caused on the field.

On the course you can look forward to various focus areas such as the history, origin, principles and benefits of sport specific massage and the appropriate methods and techniques associated with sports massage. The sport massage course can open many avenues and provide the opportunities to work with athletes in any sporting profession regardless of their level of fitness.

This course is open to individuals that currently hold an NQF level 5 sport or fitness qualification. The average time spent doing the course is 6-8 hours per week over a 3-month period in which you will cover your learning hours, assignments and practicals.

If any of the above courses and potential career pathways have piqued your interest, why not give us a call today to get you signed up for the October intake. Imagine starting 2019 off with a whole new exciting career in the sport and fitness industry.
